World-class Academic Medical Facility Consolidates IV Preparation with RIVA
October 8, 2008, Winnipeg, MB- Jackson Memorial Hospital of Miami, Florida has chosen the
RIVA System (Robotic IV Automation)-a self-contained unit for filling IV syringes and bagsfrom
Intelligent Hospital Systems (IH Systems) to consolidate its IV preparation. Opened in
1918, Jackson Memorial Hospital is an accredited tertiary teaching hospital with over 1,500
licensed beds that provides a wide range of patient services, educational programs, a clinical
setting for research activities and a number of health-related community services.
Large health care facilities are increasingly seeking technologically advanced, cost efficient
solutions to help them meet their goals for improving patient care and safety, according to
Kevin McGarry, Chief Executive Officer of IH Systems. “As the demands for complex care
increase, so does the need for health care facilities to ensure they maintain the highest
standards of patient safety,” he says. McGarry continues, “One of the many attributes of the
RIVA system that makes it so attractive is its flexibility to support the diverse needs of a
major health care facility like Jackson Memorial.”
For Jane Arnot, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RIVA, the versatility of the RIVA
system is demonstrated by the interest being expressed by health care facilities that provide
specialized as well as general medical services. “Addressing patient safety through
automation with RIVA provides health care facilities of all sizes an important tool for
improving medication safety outcomes for patients,” says Arnot.
